This is a wide-ranging project, in that it sets out to collaborate in organising the archives of the Casals Catalans (Catalan communities abroad) worldwide, and partucularly the ones that became true centres of Catalan life in exile. Initial work has been carried out so far on the project for organisation of the documentation of various Catalan overseas communities, such as the Centre Català in Rosario and the Casal de Catalunya in Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Casal Català of Montevideo (Uruguay), the Orfeó Català de Mèxic (Mexico) and the Societat de Beneficència de Naturals i Descendents de Catalunya) Charitable Society for Catalsn and Catalan Descendents) in Havana (Cuba). The objective is to assist in organising the document collections produced by such entities, by providing them with archiving criteria for documentation processing and computerisation, making allowance whwrw nwcwssary for applying suitable restoration techniques in order to preserve the documentation. The aim is to ensure thereby that the archives of Catalan communities overseas are properly organised and can be consulted, as well as conserving the documentation as documentary heritage.
